Azurite is a soft, copper carbonate minerate.  It's a cousin to Malachite, which is another basic copper carbonate mineral. That said, Azurite is rarer than Malachite and worth quite a bit more as it's more sought after by serious gemstone collectors.  Azurite gets its name from the Persian word 'lazhward', which refers to a vivid blue color. Azurite is a fairly soft mineral, so you're not going to see it used a ton in jewelry. It's most often seen in bead necklaces, bracelets and larger cab cuts.  IGYSL has all of the above. We also a very rare faceted Azurite that we'll be listing soon too. Our market researcher is in the process of trying to figure out how to price. It's so rare, it's not in any pricing guide and we can not find any comps online. In addition to gem use, Azurite is also an Industrial gem.  Like many other gems, Azurite has been used for the production of pigments & textile color dye.

Azurite belongs to the monoclinic prismatic crystal system.  It is extremely soft in pure form, only ranking 3.5 to 4 on Mohs hardness scale.
