Jasper is part of the Patterned Chalcedony Quartz.  It's usually a mass of tiny silica crystals pigmented by impurities. Colors can quite bold & impressive.  This particular stone is a beautiful brown, banned with Black spots. Most commonly occurs in Oregon, Idado, Utah, Montana & Wyoming.
