As part of our IGYSL Collection, we are proud to feature this 'Triplite (~2.11 ct., ~10x7x4mm, Pear Cut) Loose Gemstone'. It's a reddish orange transparent gemstone. Microscope images taken at 40x+ magnification. Triplite was discovered in 1813 in France. Most crystals are opaque and dark brown to brownish black in color. Most gem quality Triplite is found in Pakison, which is the reddish orange transparent material. Even then, it's generally not a very clean gemstone.
Triplite in general can be found in Africa, Europe, China and the US. Triplite gets its name from the greek word, Triplos alluding to it's 3 dinstinctive cleverages. Triplites are part of the monoclinic crystal system and has it's own family. Other varieties in the Triplite are Metatriplite and Talktriplite.
